So got to photograph the True Music Festival this last weekend and let me tell you it was a blast. For the first year I really do think they could turn this into something great. The weather was perfect, besides at the night time got a little cold. The art instillation were very cool and the live painters were doing there thing. The big pulls for the night were defiantly Wiz Khalifa, The Flamming Lips, and Bassnectar. Wiz Khalifa was good and defiantly put on a great show. The Flamming Lips had a great flow and made people emotional. and Bassnectar if you like EDM or you have seen him perform you know why people will stand in the cold to see him. Here are a few shots i got to go through (so many to go through). You can check out the next edition of College Times to see my photos for the event. and I will try to get more up when time permits.
Fire Dancers took over the night.

Went to the University of Phoenix Stadium (home of the Phoenix Cardinals) last night to photograph the State final championship between Hamilton Huskies vs. Mountain Pointe Pride. It was very fun and exiting game. Being on the grass in such of big stadium is very exiting and fun. I took almost 800 shots so there was a lot of editing done today. Here is one shot that I got, and if you would like to see the rest check out the next issue of the San Tan Sun News.

Arizona High School Football
Got the pleasure of shoot a Semi-Final game for the Arizona State Championship Division 1 for the San Tan Sun News. The game took place between Hamilton and Chandler. Both teams were really fun to watch and the game came down to the last seconds, what made it that much more fun to photograph. Hamilton came out on top and will be playing Mountain Pointe for the Championship. I will also be photography this game on Saturday that takes place at The University of Phoenix Stadium, what is home to the Arizona Cardinals so I am really excited to see the stadium from the turf.

TRU Music Festival
I am wanted to share some exciting news for the valley. A new music festival with a great lineup is coming this December. Here's the press release I had sent to me and hope to see you all there.
TRUE MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIRST ROUND OF PERFORMERS FOR INAUGURAL EVENT IN SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA DECEMBER 14, 2013
Performers Include Bassnectar, The Flaming Lips, Wiz Khalifa, Capital Cities and Lord Huron
$60 Pre-Sale Tickets On Sale Tuesday, August 27 at 12:00 p.m. PST
Scottsdale, AZ (August 27, 2013) -
True Music Festival, a brand new festival experience coming to
Scottsdale, Arizona, is pleased to announce the first round of
performers for the inaugural event, which will be held at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on December 14, 2013. The
performer lineup at the multi-genre festival includes: wildly engaging
EDM producer and DJ, Bassnectar; rock stalwarts, The Flaming Lips;
hip-hop impresario, Wiz Khalifa; the indie-pop duo, Capital Cities; and
indie-folk band, Lord Huron. More artists will be announced in the
coming weeks, building off of these and other genres. In addition to a day of performances featuring a range of musicians, from nationally recognized artists to local favorites, the festival will also include a wide array of vendors, art installations, roving performers and more.
"We
are incredibly excited to bring this level of talent to Arizona," says
festival founder Jarid Dietrich. "This first round of artists should
give people a glimpse at the direction we are headed and the unique
experience we want to bring to the state."
Leading
the charge at True Music Festival, Bassnectar spans the spectrum of
sonic style. Drawing inspiration from every genre imaginable, he shows
no hesitation when it comes to fusing the familiar with the strange or
the classic with the cutting edge. Genre bending in their own right, three-time
Grammy award winners The Flaming Lips are known as much for their music
as their ostentatious live shows. Utilizing costumes, balloons,
puppets, video projections, complex light shows, confetti and just about
anything else the band can find; The Lips set will be one not to miss.
And, Best New Artist at the
2012 Billboard Music Awards, Wiz Khalifa has established himself as one
of the brightest young stars to watch. His music is loaded with pure
rap bangers and smash pop hits, adored by his loyal fan following across
the globe.
Holding
to True Music Festival's pledge of presenting a multi-genre event that
would appeal to all, the final two artists provide an indie blend of
music not immediately noticeable in the previous three artists. With a
hit single that quickly shot to #1 on modern rock radio and is currently
climbing the Top 40 charts, it’s hard to believe that Capital Cities’
duel frontmen were once jingle writers who met on Craigslist. This Los
Angeles-based indie-electro team creates music with an upbeat mesh of
programming and melody primed for stardom. And while being equally as
indie as Capital Cities, Lord Huron crafts a blend of folk-rock,
that may be most appealing to fans of My Morning Jacket. With songs
characterized by the wide open spaces of the mythic American West, Lord
Huron creates a rootsy foundation layered with ingenious sonic
dimensions.
The
multi-stage festival, which is a first for the area, will be held at
the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Centrally located between
Phoenix and neighboring Arizona State University, the venue is a part of
a new 140-acre state-of-the-art
A
limited allotment of pre-sale tickets will go on sale Tuesday, August
27 for $60, before moving to $70 for General Admission. Tickets will be
available online at www.truemusicfestival.com/

The Art of Video Games
So say what you want about video games they are the favorite pastime for many. The Phoenix Art Museum is having a great exhibit titled The Art of Video Games. Me and Payton went down for a visit. One of the nice things about the part of town we live in is that we are a very short walk to the light rail that takes you right to the Museum.

We finally made it to the exhibit. It was $20.00 for both of us to get in, Which I think was a great price for all the fun things you can do, We got to play video games for free and see all the cool things that go into making video games and the art behind it.
It was cool they had 10-20 stations like this that all the original gaming systems up to now. They also had a few images and details about the system. It was really cool to see the progress that games have made up to today.

This is one of my favorite pieces in the museum. It is huge hanging piece of burnt wood all combined together with fishing wire. They also have some really cool interactive pieces too. It has a great diversity of all forms of art.
The Phoenix Art Museum building is very nice. It has a courtyard with many different sculptures and grassy areas. Payton really liked the red dinosaur that was outside the front doors.
We had to stop at city scape on the way home to cool off. Got to love living in Phoenix.
