New Places

Thanks to the help of a local I was shown a new place to shoot portraits in the valley.  Great location, with the trees aligned the way they are this will be a perfect all year around location with it being green some time of year and old rustic feeling the rest.  Here is a little sneak peak of a shoot I did there a couple days ago.  Can't wait to use this place many more times.

Mcdowell Mountain Music Festival

In light of the recent events at well-known music festivals it was a great relief and privilege to be a part of this years McDowell Mountain Music Festival. I know you can’t compare a massive festival to a music festival this size, but there are a lot of things I think others can learn from MMMF. First of coarse is the charity support. That’s right 100% percent of the proceeds go to two local charities the first being The Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and the second is UMOM which is helping homeless families and children with providing homes and support for a better future. It’s nice knowing where your money is going and that its being used for a great purpose. It was also nice to see such a nice family friendly event. I know a lot of you hear the word family event and get a bad taste in your mouth, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. There were plenty of young adults having the fun you would have at other events, being wild and letting go, and truthfully it was very refreshing and beautiful seeing all the little faces in awe sharing new events like trying hula hoping or joining in on drum circles and enjoying all the amazing music. That being said if you do plan on attending one of these events remember there are kids and to be respectful, which truthfully, from the story’s we have been hearing about the things going on today at events maybe we could all learn something from these little ones.
Another great thing about this festival it is committed to is becoming 100% green. The grounds of the event are filled with recycle, compost, and trash stations, with event volunteers to help you with all your needs to the recycled drinking water, which was free all weekend long. Also being dedicated to local business and music is another big plus. Instead of paying crazy high prizes for beers that you can get everyday at any local gas station around the country. With one of the supporters being Duschutes Brewery you could select from many different types of local made beers for 6 bucks, and the best part with helping with the green idea you got a commemorative glass with MMMFs logo and the Brewery logo that could be used over and over again until you took it home.
Now we have the music, it was great not having to worry about what show you want to catch and how you’re going to make it in time to see this one verses that one. With one main stage going at one time and then the local stage playing on the in-between times you didn’t have to worry about that, and with a normal down time on the main stage of about 45min to an hour you were always just a few minutes away from the big act. For all you EDM kids out there they had Gramatik there first night followed up by STS9. Gramatik put on a great show with members playing Sax and Trumpet along with there electronic beets that keep the floor moving and everyone dancing.
The second day was loaded with a bunch of jam bands from Dispatch, to Slightly Stooped and the Disco Biscuits closing it out. While all these bands lived up to there name, I would have to say one band that stood out and truthfully was on the lips of many at the festival was Allen Stone, who I am not going to lie, I never have heard before, came out and destroyed the stereo type of many people. You would not believe the soul and funk that comes out of this thin, long haired, white man. His sound is like that of the old the Motown funk times, and this is what I kept on hearing from people throughout the day. I would suggest checking him out, I know I will.
Finishing out the last day of the festival they brought out some heavy hitters. First they had G. Love and Special Sauce. With him playing his complete first album from start to finish and throwing in some new ones at the end. Next they went a little country with the icon himself Dwight Yoakam. Not much you have to say about Dwight but very clean country that will make your feet move. Then to close out the weekend they had the amazing Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite. Wow that team does not disappoint. Charlie just tearing up the harmonica and Ben whaling on the vocals and guitar this was just the great ending this festival deserved.
All and all it was one of the best music festivals I have been to in long time. With out all the crowds and the smart choices put together by the leaders of this event, I could truly relax and have a great time, be it kicking the soccer ball around with the kids or dancing to the amazing music I think this is the way music festivals should be ran and participants should act.

Thank you to  McDowell Mountain Music Festival and White Raver Rafting for this opportunity and you can check all the photos i shot at there website here.

Kenneths Color Run

So got the pleasure of photographing a really cool event this weekend.  A high school student, Brindlee Fullmer put on a color run in memory of her family member Kenneth who passed away from cancer.  It was very fun and lots of people came out to support Kenneth, the family, and to raise money and awareness for the battle against cancer.  I had to share one of the photos with you, this little girl was just to cute not to.  You can see more photos from this event in an upcoming edition of the San Tan Sun News.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Hi,
So been really busy the last couple weeks if the headline doesn't say it all.  So went and shot the Barret Jackson Auctions, and got to say that is one of the coolest things I have been to.  The place is huge, so many cool cars, and artist.  Also shot the hot air balloon fest in downtown Glendale.  Another really cool event, they litterly had dozzen of hot air balloons on the streets of downtown, with food and games for the kids and music everywhere it was a fun night.  Also did a couple others and all were under tight deadlines.  Stay tune in the next couple days and I will let you know where and what publications each will be in.  Also finally got the print of my TRU Music Fest Pictures.  Hope you got to see them on the street but if you didn't here they are.

True Music Fest

So got to photograph the True Music Festival this last weekend and let me tell you it was a blast.  For the first year I really do think they could turn this into something great.  The weather was perfect, besides at the night time got a little cold.  The art instillation were very cool and the live painters were doing there thing.  The big pulls for the night were defiantly Wiz Khalifa, The Flamming Lips, and Bassnectar.  Wiz Khalifa was good and defiantly put on a great show.  The Flamming Lips had a great flow and made people emotional.  and Bassnectar if you like EDM or you have seen him perform you know why people will stand in the cold to see him.  Here are a few shots i got to go through (so many to go through).  You can check out the next edition of College Times to see my photos for the event. and I will try to get more up when time permits.

Arizona High School Football

Got the pleasure of shoot a Semi-Final game for the Arizona State Championship Division 1 for the San Tan Sun News.  The game took place between Hamilton and Chandler.  Both teams were really fun to watch and the game came down to the last seconds, what made it that much more fun to photograph.  Hamilton came out on top and will be playing Mountain Pointe for the Championship.  I will also be photography this game on Saturday that takes place at The University of Phoenix Stadium, what is home to the Arizona Cardinals so I am really excited to see the stadium from the turf.

Commercial Advertisment Shoot

Hello everyone,

Been a while since I have been able to post,  A few new things have been going on.  Wanted to say thanks to all the people who came and supported me at the Raw Artist event a couple weeks ago.  Went really well and had a really good time meeting new artist and seeing what what this event has to offer.  So many new things if you ever get a chance I suggest you check out one of there events at www.rawartist.org/.

Also I was commisend to photograph some advertisment photography for a website.  They hired me to photograph Safeway gas stations for there websites advertisemnt header.  This was intresting becuse of the size restrictions on the header and where the search bar is located I had to make it work.
